Dr. Jai Ranganathan and Dr. Jarrett Byrnes are organizing SciFund, a challenge to young scientists to collect up to ~$1,000 to fund one of their projects through crowd funding. Their goals are to harness the power of the internet to fund science projects, while also motivating scientists to engage more with the public. These are two extremely important goals, and I encourage any young scientists to join up. Here is some more information:
